Welcome to “South Coast Quilting – Creative Longarm Quilting Services” offering my creative energy to your creative skill sets to bring about something unique and extraordinary for your piece of unique artistry.
Hi, I’m Peter Hartley, the creative lead behind South Coast Quilting, and holding a self-professed and life-long passion for anything fabric. Colours, textures, designs, and their natural abilities to cross pollinate as an art form continue to captivate and beguile me as much today as they did when I was a very young boy. The bright colours and intricate designs of bejeweled Indian Sarees through to the more muted tone on tone pastels have always intrigued me, whether they stand alone in their own statements or meld together to be complimentary, forming entirely different messaging. I hold a special appreciation of natural fibres and their overt capacity to reflect every aspect of both nature and environment.
I feel incredibly blessed that the last decade or so have enabled me to focus entirely on my passion for fabrics and their artistry. Whilst varying options were available in this medium, my overarching motivation was always encircled by the ongoing consideration as to what would offer the most joy, creative options, and new skill development. I then attempted to create my first quilt after watching numerous instructional online videos and assistance from a good friend who is a quilter. I was immediately infatuated not only by the creative process, but the endless creative opportunities that quilting provided in a medium that I held a lifelong passion for.
Since completing my first quilt, I enthusiastically have embraced all things quilting, and have completed dozens of quilts, entered numerous shows and have been recognised with awards. I light-heartedly explain to many that my passion for quilting as “it is what gets me out of bed every morning”.

Founded in 2023, South Coast Quilting is a high-quality creative long-arm quilting service driven by our over-arching desire to enrich your awe-inspiring artistry.
Located on beautiful Phillip Island, we are highly influenced by the wonders of nature all around us.
Whilst we offer an array of long-arm quilting services to our local quilting community, we also extend these same services throughout the wider Gippsland region and nationally across the country via Australia Post parcel tracking services.
Our dedication to customer satisfaction has made us a trusted name in the industry.
Our Team
Peter is the creative lead of South Coast Quilting. As an ardent and award-winning quilter of some seven years, he fully understands the differing creative requirements across the quilting community.
We appreciate the individual journey taken on any quilting project, and the incredible diversity of choice when it comes to our differing forms of artistic intent.

Our state-of-the-art long arm quilting automation system seamlessly stitches your quilt layers, delivering an individualised and distinguished final product. Our service boasts rapid completion, outpacing hand quilting and conventional / domestic machines. We offer a vast array of quilting services, pantograph designs, customised thread types and hues. Longarm Quilting Booking Request
Here at South Coast Quilting we recognise that our clients have different way of communicating. As such we offer a range of options when requesting our services.
- Contact us directly via email or phone, details as listed on our Contact Us page. We are happy to take your phone calls at any time to commence the design consultation process with you. Should we not be available to take your call, we endeavor to return all voicemail and text messages on the same day they were received.
- Once you have contacted us and commenced the design consultation process, you can either drop off your quilt top directly to us here at Ventnor on Phillip Island, or mail it to us, Mailing details are listed here.
- South Coast Quilting offers our longarm quilting services both nationally and internationally, recognising that for some of our customers it is far more convenient to make arrangements electronically, via phone consultation and via contactless means. As our services are frequently in high demand, some clients may consider booking in their quilts even prior to completing them to ensure personal deadlines are met, especially for quilts that are being gifted for a special occasion.
Should you desire to book our services by contactless means, please download our Longarm Booking Request form and mail it to us together with your quilt top and any other items you wish to supply. As soon as it is received, we will be in touch with you to complete the design consultation process.

Our Studio
South Coast Quilting studio is pet free, smoke free, and humidity level controlled to ensure our fabrics, threads, and your artwork is always kept in optimal conditions.
